Shadow & Thunder

You've heard of house panthers, but have you heard of house lions? Presenting these two royals; Shadow and Thunder!

They came from Brampton Animal Services where they were found too shut down from the shelter environment.

These siblings are 11 months old Maine Coon/tabby crosses, and they have all of the traits of Maine Coons; independent, intelligent, reserved, friendly and loyal.

They are skiddish and nervous by nature (the vacuum and coffee grinder are so scary) and in a new environment or around new people but once they are comfortable they are talkative and looking for attention.

Like many larger breeds, they tend to prefer rubs on their terms; making them ideal cats for a quieter adult only home, preferably with Maine Coon experience!

Given their size they would need a larger home, and a catio is a plus! They love to chit chatter at the birds outside.

Shadow is a bit smaller at 10lbs, but is no less regal!

Her favorite pass times are also sleeping the day away and chattering at the birds outside.

She can get a little nervous around sudden movements or noises, but she's a total sweety at heart.

If she's laying down she is open for rubs! Her favorite spot for rubs is her belly (yes you heard that right) you can scratch her anywhere and she'll stretch and purr and melt away.

The key to Thunder and Shadow is a calm voice, they love to hear you talk to them, it completely changes their demeanor.

With the right words you can even talk them out of running away! After a week at their foster home their nervousness really started to fade away.

They are avid 'mousers' for foams balls, felt mice and feathers on string.

Both Thunder and Shadow have excellent litter box manners, primarily stick to the cat post and corrugated cardboard for scratching and don't mind being picked up.

They don't care for cords or knocking things over but they will try to eat every one of your house plants! (Bitter spray works great as a detergent and cat grass for redirection)

Because of their darty nature (and size) they would likely do best as the only cats in the house.

It's unknown if they had any interaction with dogs but would very likely do better without, but a very calm older dog is possibility.

A quieter adult only home with lots of room to roam is a must have.

Thunder and Shadow are extraordinary cats with so much to love and laughs to offer, they are truly a pair of mini lions that are just so deserving of their forever home together!

Please bear in mind that it is against Abbey Cat policy to adopt a single kitten under the age of 6 months to a home without a kitten of similar age for company.
